Are assessments important before starting a training program?

Athletes are not able to move efficiently if their body isn’t in a position to do so. Incorporating assessments, strength training and data analytics into how we train players is part of the foundation here at ProChop Training. Since each and every player is different in every way, the key is to parse through the data and determine which pieces are relevant for each player. Below is a typical testing  segment for  players  and it’s broken up into several sections:

  • Movement and Strength Assessment
  • Video Review and Analysis
  • Kinematic Sequence Analysis
  • Segment Metrics
  • Segment Results

What type of trainer will I work with?

ProChop Training works with high school and/or college coaches, trainers and former players from all over the US. That’s the biggest advantage of the program. While most local youth and travel team coaches have some knowledge of baseball taught by a local dad, ProChop Training provides players with instruction by professionally trained and experienced baseball people who do this for a living.

What type of remote videos can be analyzed?

Almost all digital videos can be uploaded to our server and analyzed.  Youtube links or videos taken via iPhone are also great options.

How do I record a video?

The way that most people video record these days is with their phones or tablets. If you record with an iPhone or Android device, you aren’t going to have to worry about file formats, codecs, video compression or anything else. Video should be shot in horizontal mode. Once you sign up for your account, you will be given instructions on how to upload video to the ProChop Training team.

Can parents watch the sessions?

Of course, parents are more than welcome to attend the sessions. However, in order to ensure a smooth process for everyone involved, we kindly ask that you refrain from entering the cage work areas and engaging with the instructors during the session. After the session, we would be more than happy to schedule a time to discuss your young athlete’s strengths, weaknesses, and development.

Do you teach pitchers how to take care of their arms?

We have implemented a comprehensive arm care program for our pitchers, integrated with ThrowChedU. Our program emphasizes proper pre-throwing and post-throwing arm care techniques to ensure their optimal health.

Do you teach you how to throw different pitches effectively and move the ball?

Developing a diverse pitch repertoire with different ball movements such as 4-seam, 2-seam, change-up, curveball, cutter, or slider is crucial for pitchers. Therefore, our trainers feel it should be an essential aspect of every pitching program.

Can you help improve my pitching velocity?

Our focus is on the development of the entire athlete by improving their kinetic sequence, strength, speed, and athleticism. By improving the athlete’s overall physical abilities and instilling proper mechanics, we promote a healthy approach to throwing the ball, resulting in higher velocity.Do you provide a customized and individualized pitching program?

Yes. Our pitching programs are customized to match an athlete’s current needs, physical abilities, and athletic capability.

Will I receive any exercises or drills to work on afterward?

As a part of their training, each athlete will receive specific exercises and pitching drills that they can practice independently.

How long does a typical pitching lesson last?

Our pitching lessons last around one hour and may extend slightly for post-session exercises.

Does My Child Really Need a Pitching Coach?

Pitchers, no matter how talented they are, require coaches to support them. Pitching coaches can help with pitch design, identify mechanical issues, and provide mental preparation for game day.

Elite velocity and command in the big leagues are developed through years of instruction, allowing pitchers to understand their bodies and optimize their athleticism. This understanding leads to increased velocity, the ability to command multiple pitches for strikes, and overall better performance.

While physical ability is undoubtedly essential, taking pitching lessons from an expert coach can help you develop a strategy that plays to your strengths. If you aspire to become a top-notch pitcher, receiving professional guidance and training is crucial.
